Breakfast [Sushi-Dai]

Tsukiji Fish Market is a wholesale fishmarket that sells 1/3 of all the fish eaten in Japan. Nevertheless, it's the No.1 scaled fishmarket in the world.
Many & many tourists from abroad visit Tsukiji everyday, but this area is popular also to Japanese locals. Their purpose is to have a breakfast meal right in the middle of the marketplace, which adds a touch of live excitement.
Among all eatries within the area, [Sushi Dai] is possibally the most popular & crowded. It's a small sushi bar that dazzles you with a 3,670Yen "Omakase", which is comparatively very valuable for this rank of sushi.
The "Omakase" consists 11 pieces of "Nigiri", a piece of "Gunkan", "Norimaki", egg ommelette, and an oyster.

"Toro" and "Tai"
Take a look at the delightful light pink color ! Aren't they pretty ???

"Kinmedai"
Definately one of the most expensive "Tai". Ummmmm ...


An ommlette, which is called "Gyoku" by regular visitors.
It is often said that you can tell the grade of sushi bars sharp by eating "Gari" or "Gyoku".

"Kan-Buri" and "Hokki-Gai"

"Duke", a soy sauce marinaded fillet of tuna.
Oh ... just the look of it sitting there makes my mouth water !

"Norimaki", rice rolled with dried seawead sheets.
This one contains "Mentaiko" & cucumber.
























Now here's a laugh for you!
My favorite "neta" is "Uni", and you have no idea how I crave for it !
With so much love, every time one comes in front of my eyes, I simply CANNOT wait to pop it into my mouth ... even for a single second !
Which always ends in this way .... I have not even one photo of "Uni" yet !

[Sushi-Dai] is a really popular place, so you'll have to keep in mind that you might have to wait in line for an hour or so.
But if you're looking for "the best", I assure this is the place !!!!!

Lunch [Uchiyama]

Given One star by Michelin Tokyo, Uchiyama is a modern & cozy Japanese cuisine restaurant based on tea ceremony dishes.
At lunch time, female office workers sit in a row before a clean wood counter, to seak their way to "Ryokudaka-Bento" Course. To think of the restaurant rank itself, 2,500Yen is a value price for lunch.
The first dish is "Yaki-Gomadofu".
Cube Sesame Tofu sprinkled with Katakuriko-flour and lightly grilled.

"Ryokudaka-Bento"
Bento is a Japanese style lunch box filled with small portions of food.

"Tai Sashimi", Sashimi of fresh Red snapper.
Squeeze sudachi on fish.
Tear the tiny purple flowers from branch.
Let them drift over the soy sauce and dip in Sashimi.

"Takenoko-Shinjyo Osuimono"
Clear dashi broth soup with steamed bamboo shoot paste.

"Soramame Tonyu-Yose"
Soramame flavored Soy-milk Kanten-Jelly for dessert.

Lunch [Kirakutei]

Gathering with friends and barbecuing strips of delicious meat is lots of fun. Plus there's this feeling you're doing something special, which makes it more throbbing. Everybody loves Yakiniku, the most joyful & delightful meal!
Kiraku-Tei, a casual Yakiniku Restaurant on Meiji-dori is well known for their quality in meat. Lunch time crowded and dinner time mostly full reservated, if you are aiming at lunch without a reservation, it would be wise to arrive at 11:30 sharp, or 13:30 avoiding peak time.

Set-order "Wagyu Harami Lunch" is a wonderful first choice. Harami (tender skirt meat) should be satisfying to chew and juicy to swallow. When done barbecuing on the grill, dip your meat into the Tare sauce and eat.
side-dishes: Namul, Hiyayakko, Kimchi, green salad, soup, Tare, rice

For those who are confident of their appetite, a single-order "Shio-Tan Kiriotoshi"(Salted Tongue Cut-offs) plate would be perfect. Tan is usually served with salt and lemon, so after barbecuing, instead of dipping into Tare, squeeze your lemon and give it a quench!

Lunch [Restaurant ABC]

Cheap eats are sweet & marvelous anywhere in the world. Restaurant ABC is almost holy for lovers, tasty as ever and large in amount. Umm...delicious...!!
Western-style food like hamburg steak & beef stew are basic items, and among them Omuraisu, ketchup fried rice wrapped in egg is rather a long hit item. But don't go yet. "Omuraisu Set", a gigantic hamburg placed on Omuraisu & a pond of ketchup is a real killer!

It's huge... far more than you think. And far more satisfactory!

Dinner [Imamura]

Here I was, at an ordinary building in Azabu Juban.Stepping down the stairs to the basement, I got puzzled as an elevator and firedoor came into my view. That was all there was in the lean atmosphere.
Dead-end?
And then suddenly, I came to discover that the restaurant I was heading for is hidden right behind the firedoor. This, is surely a hideaway. Let us introduce to you a prestigious Japanese cuisine Imamura.

They don't have a certain menu,
only a 15,000Yen Omakase course.
No worries, you will be served the best items of the day!

Like say Saba Heshiko, a nuka pickled Meckerel.
Heshiko is irresistible to many Sake drinkers.

Burdock leaves arranged into Ohitashi

Charcoal-grilled Torigai.
Cockle is a very popular sushi ingredient in Japan.

Roughly grated Wasabi is a splendid relish!
Just be careful to take teeny bits at a time.

Shiokara broiled in a tiny earthen pot.
You slightly burn the Shiokara
at the bottom & sides of heated pot.

Keiji salmon slices of Sashimi are just gorgeous!
Definitely must be the No.1 of the night.

Sardine Hamburg steak,
once minced and then shaped into a patty to grill.

The last was creatively made,
a Curry plate - vegetables scooped from cooked Kenchin-Jiru,
seasoned very simply with
Katsuo-Dashi(dried bonito broth) & curry powder.

Dinner [Bettei Tori-Jaya]

Kagurazaka once flourished as Hanamachi,
and a few Geisha houses remain till today.
Spending time in Kagurazaka is remarked sophisticated
even among the Japanese.
Today we will introduce you
a famous Udon Kaiseki Restaurant in Kagurazaka,
Bettei Tori-Jaya.
"Bettei" is translated as "Second House",
which means there is a first.
The original stands just within a minute walk.
All dinner courses include "Udon-Suki",
a boiling pot of seasoned broth with Udon,
chicken, seafood and vegetables all combined in.
Of 3 courses, the most reasonable is the "Tsuki".

and "Nigiwai Zensai", Assorted Selections.

"Otsukuri", Sashimi and "Yakimono", Grilled fish.
The kind of fish usually changes by season.

Drinking [Umaimonya Tokutoku]

Umaimonya Tokutoku is an "Izakaya"
just a 3 minute walk from Yoyogi-Uehara Station.
Izakayas are casual and cheap places
for after-work drinking.

This day's "Tsukidashi" was Fresh Green Vegetables.
"Tsukidashi" is an appetizer served per person,
and the other dishes are for sharing within the table.

Here at Cuisinier Japonais HISHINUMA,
We bluffed our way to a Mini Kaiseki Course.
"Kaiseki" is a tradional course
built with several tea-ceremony dishes.
Though "Kaiseki" is basicly prestigious,
this place happens to be very casual,
including the fact that they have a wine menu.
